BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES                                                May 7 , 2003

President Jack Feagin called the meeting to order.  Present: Gabriel Fadel, Beatrice Kemp, Josie Mitchell Kevin Collins, Bill Burk, Kevin Collins and Carolyn Eckert.

 

 

1.      Minutes: of the April 2003 DBAA Board meeting were approved.

 

2.      Financial:   Jack asked Bill Burk to review and purchase Quicken software.

 

3.  Specialty Games:

·        Novice Game:  Apparently, obtaining a database containing names of people who have not played recently is not as easy as originally thought.  Therefore, Jack will next discuss with Chuck Whidden the possibility of obtaining this database.

·        Change of Rank Game:  There is justified criticism of the imperfect system to determine eligible players.  Currently, names of eligible players are extracted from the monthly Bridge Bulletins.  Next year’s candidates should be obtained through ACBL database.

 

4. Old  Business: 

• Sectional Tournament: Jack is working on a contract with the Peachtree/Holcomb Bridge Hilton as a possible site for the sectional tournaments for 2004. Currently, we have a contract with Ramada Inn for the July 2003 and Dec 2003 Sectional.  Jack will attempt to withdraw under good terms from the Dec 2003 Sectional contract and hopefully hold the penalty fee for early withdrawal to a minimum of $500-1000 with an utmost level of $1500.

·        Young Adult Program: Patty will go forward with another session.

 

5.  New Business:

Roster changes were updated for the web page and forwarded to Chuck Whidden.  Susan Wolfe was appointed and later accepted the appointment for unit rep.
