BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES
July 9, 2003

President Jack Feagin called the meeting to order. 
Present: Susan Wolfe, Gabriel Fadel, Beatrice Kemp, Josie Mitchell, and Bill Burks.

1.      Minutes: of the June 2003 DBAA Board meeting were approved.

2.      Financial:   Bill Burks submitted financial report.

3.  Specialty Games:

·        Novice Game: Chuck Whidden provided a list of all players who have not earned more than 4 masterpoints during the last 12 months and who do not have more than 200 MP’s during a life time.  Dan Plato will screen the list to exclude novices who play regularly but just do not accumulate points.  The list should also be screened by Priscilla and other clubs.  The kickoff event will be Saturday, Sept 20^th.  There will be no entry fee for this kickoff event.  All novice players will be charged half price for the following 2 weeks.  Nancy Watkins is the proposed director.  Martha Spalding volunteered to match up the players for the game.  Susan will draft an invitational letter to these players.

·        NAOP Qualifier:  Another event is scheduled for July 23.  Miles will announce this on July 16^th game.

• A motion was made by Beatrice Kemp, seconded and passed that Martha Spalding have volunteer players stand by for tournaments.  She will locate and approach and schedule appropriate players.  These volunteers will play for free.
• Bob Heller suggested having a joint New Years Eve party event with Dan Plato at the Christmas sectional since New Years Eve falls on a Wed night.  Bob will approach Dan and consult with him
