BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES August 6 , 2003
President Jack Feagin called the meeting to order. Present: Jack Feagin, Susan Wolfe, Gabriel Fadel, Beatrice Kemp, Josie Mitchell, Bill Burks, Kevin Collins and Carolyn Eckert.


1. Minutes: of the July 2003 DBAA Board meeting were approved.

2. Financial: Bill Burks submitted financial reports for May and June.

3. Specialty Games:
· Novice Game: Dan Plato and Martha Spalding have screened the list of players who qualify for this novice game. The kickoff event will be Saturday, Sept 20th. There will be no entry fee for this kickoff event. All novice players will be charged half price for the following 2 weeks. Susan Wolfe has drafted an invitational letter which will be mailed out soon.

4. Old Business:
· Bob Heller discussed with Dan Plato about having a joint New Years Eve party event at the Atlanta Christmas Sectional, since New Years Eve falls on a Wed night. Dan is receptive to the idea.

5. New Business:
· Larry Rich is temporarily doing the Mid-Atlantic web page. Jack will talk with Larry about doing the DBAA web page also and to add the Novice Game kickoff event on Sept 20th. Gaby has following up with Larry on Aug 7th, and Larry will be glad to take care of the DBAA web page.
· The sudden death of Chuck Whidden prompted Josie to suggest to the board that DBAA find a means of immediately communicating major events to the bridge community at large.
· DBAA wishes to express our sincere appreciation for the devotion and attention Chuck provided to DBAA and the bridge world.
· Gaby noted that all the trophies need cleaning. Jack suggested reviving and re-establishing the several different championships for which these trophies were originally intended.

Meeting adjourned 7:30PM. Next meeting: Wednesday, Sept 3, 2003 @ 6:15pm
