BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES                                                            October 1, 2003

President Jack Feagin called the meeting to order.  Present: Jack Feagin, Susan Wolfe, Beatrice Kemp, Kevin Collins, and Carolyn Eckert.

1.  Minutes: of the September 2003 DBAA Board meeting were approved.

2.  Financial:   No financial reports.

3.  Specialty Games:

·  Novice Game: Nancy Watkins reported to Jack prior to the meeting that the mailing produced several phone calls to her.  There were 3 tables for the novice players at the kickoff event on Saturday, Sept 20^th.  Jack again restated that the goal of the DBAA should be to promote the opportunity for a limited game on Wed evenings.  Several promotional ideas where discussed to encourage the limited game.  A suggestion was made to get a list from the ACBL of people who would qualify for the limited game and lived within 15 miles of the Bridge Center.  A mailer to them would promote the game in addition to listing Nancy Watkins as the contact person for the game.

4.  Old Business:

• Beatrice Kemp presented to the Unit Meeting the idea of reviving and re-establishing the existing trophies for the several different championship games.  A substantial number of people at the Unit Meeting voted down the idea of reviving the games.  An anonymous person offered to donate up to $1000 toward the costs of new trophies.  A committee was established to collect data on costs of new trophies and engraving for the December Unit Meeting.  Dick Myers will also follow up on engraving costs.

5.  New Business: 

• The rest of the meeting was discussion of the upcoming Casino Night Fund Raiser for the 2005 Nationals.

Meeting adjourned 7:30PM.  Next meeting:  Wednesday, November 5, 2003 @ 6:15pm
