BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES                                                           January 7, 2004

President Jack Feagin called the meeting to order.  Present: Jack Feagin, Susan Wolfe, Beatrice Kemp, Bill Burks, and Carolyn Eckert.

 

1.      Minutes: of the December 2003 DBAA Board meeting were approved.

 

2.      Financial:   November financial reports were approved.

 

3.  Specialty Games:

·        Novice Game:  There was one table of novice players for the January 7th game.  Jack will continue efforts to promote the novice game on Wednesdays.

·        GNT Qualifier:  Games will be scheduled for Feb 25 and Mar 24.

·        Change of Rank Game:  Scheduled for April 7th, 2004.  Jonathan Slaney will be asked to make the food for the game with a budget of $250.  Carolyn Eckert will contact ACBL inquiring about obtaining a database of bridge players in Unit 114 that have changed rank during 2003.  If not available from ACBL, then Carolyn will use the names on the Change of Rank section of the MABC.  Unfortunately, only names are listed and the change of rank, not addresses. Therefore, Carolyn will have to find a way to get correct addresses.   For the 2004 database, Carolyn will work with Larry Rich who receives a list of change of rank players with both names and addresses.  Therefore, future databases for this game will be easy to maintain.  Change of Rank qualifiers include those who have obtained the Life Master status or higher.

  • Atlanta Sectional Costs: This tremendously successful tournament was the largest sectional outside of the Las Vegas Sectional and was larger than any other tournament in Atlanta.  There were more than 1000 tables.
