4. Old
Business:
Social Bridge Program: DBAA officials wish to express our sincere
gratitude to Patty Tucker and all the members of her committee, the special
volunteers, and directors who together made the Social Bridge Program at the
Atlanta Regional a huge success.
Hopefully, this will become an annual event. Bill Burks will
prepare a financial statement on the costs of the program for submission to the
District and ACBL for reimbursement.
Marketing Session at Atlanta Sectional:
ACBL does have co-sponsoring funds available for reimbursement for specific
projects.
Letter to Clubs for Visit: As
an outcome of discussion by Bill Marks and Larry Rich at the August DBAA
Meeting, Jack will prepare a letter for approval by
the board to send to all bridge club owners/managers on visiting the clubs at
the request of the owners/managers.
5. New
Business:
Preparation of Slate for Elections of Officers: Carolyn reminded everyone that a slate of candidates
for election to vacant offices of the DBAA board and representatives to Unit
114 should be prepared and presented for voting. The election will be held at the Atlanta
Sectional held at the Roswell Community Center on Sunday, March 6, 2005. The board will designate an Election Committee Chairperson to
prepare the slate of candidates according to the bylaws.
Ideas to increase activity, membership, and
intellectual level of the Wed DBAA Games for the future:
Lecture
Series for Advancing Players: provide
a FREE ˝ hours pre-game lecture series by well known quest speakers for
“ADVANCING BRIDGE PLAYERS” for a 6-8 weak time frame beginning in January. Advertise at tournaments, District Bulletins,
web pages, and via flyers and posters.
Beatrice Kemp will prepare a poster for the Atlanta Sectional about the
Lecture Series.
Once a list of guest speakers is determined, Carolyn will prepare a
flyer for distribution and will follow up with advertisements in bulletins, web
pages and any other sources.
Other
suggestions for the DBAA Wednesday night game include:
Par-bidding
Contest: Prepare a contest of ‘special bridge hands’
for pairs to bid on.
Opening Lead
Problems:
IMP Game: change to IMP scoring for one game. Announce ahead of
time.
Respectfully submitted,
Carolyn Eckert
