BOARD OF DIRECTORS November 2nd MEETING MINUTES                                        November 2, 2005

President Jack Feagin called the meeting to order.  Present:  Jack Feagin, Susan Wolfe, Bill Burks, Beatrice Kemp, Josie Mitchell, Marty Nathan, Kevin Collins, Jan Word and Carolyn Eckert.

Items headlined in blue need future discussion and follow up.

1. Minutes:  October 2005 minutes were approved with changes.

2. Financial:   Treasury reports for August, & September 2005 were submitted and approved.

3. Specialty Games:

GNT and Turkey Night: November 16, 2005.  Eight gift certificates will be award.  Four to the team with highest score in the 0-1500; four to the team with the highest score in the 1500 +.  Jack is to obtain gift certificates.

Holiday Party:   December 14, 2005.  Susan and Josie will handle party food.  A budget of up to $300 was approved.

4. Old Business:

Atlanta Sectional Future: Negotiations with the Ravinia Hotel to host a sectional in 2006 are less than optimistic at this point in time, however, Jack will continue discussions with them.  Hopefully, the hotel will have a specific week that will be beneficial to them and us.  Other facilities will be looked at in addition to pursuing a possible tournament involving the area clubs locations which would benefit the local clubs as well.  Bill Burks has been requested to bring financial reports of a few past sectionals to the Board meeting.  This will help in determining costs for future sectionals and the criteria need to select a hosting site.

Housing for Tables:  The tables are in Spartanburg, SC and will be brought to the Atlanta Sectional on Tues, Nov 8.  A place to house the tables permanently is still being reviewed.  An area of 3’ x 6’ x 5’ is needed.  Using Marty Nathan’s basement is a possibility but hauling them from the basement to the truck could be prohibitive.  Larry Rich also offered the use of his basement for storage but travel distance and cost may be an impediment.  Josie Mitchell will check with her church group to find someone with a truck to transport and possibly store the tables.  The tables are owned by MABC.  The cost of a round trip movement of the tables is usually about $200.

Phone Book:Projectis started.  Jan Word is to report at next meeting.

CollegeAgeGroupBridge Players: Patty Tucker met a college age student at the Spartenburg Sectional last week end and she will follow up on this discussion.  Jack discussed the need to develop a generic letter to students on campus offering assistance in starting bridge games and or posting at recreation centers.  ACBL has college age competitions, provides tutoring/teaching and coaching for this competition.  Bridge lessons would be available at all local clubs or on college campuses.

4. New Business:

Spring Sectional at RoswellRecreationCenter : the tournament is scheduled for  March 2-5, 2006.  Jack and Bob will review contract and budget.
