BOARD OF DIRECTORS April 5th  MEETING MINUTES                                                               April 5, 2006

President Jack Feagin called the meeting to order.  Present:  Jack Feagin, Susan Wolfe, Josie Mitchell, Bill Burks, Kevin Collins, and Carolyn Eckert, Beatrice Kemp and guest Patty Tucker.  

Items headlined in blue need future discussion and follow up.

 

1. Minutes:  March, 2006 minutes were approved. 

 

2. Financial:   Bill Burks gave a summary report indicating expenses and income for Wed night club game to show profitability or loss over the past year.  Jack has asked Bill to redo the report so that expenses of sanction fees and junior & charity games fees are included in the report.

 

3. Special Games:  

           Social Game: Patty Tucker reported that she will again organize the Social Game at the Atl Regional for bridge players in the area who play social bridge.  The game will Tuesday, August 29, 2006 @ a:00  A motion was made and passed to support the cost of Posters and Flyers to advertise this game. District 7 will pay for the director and food.

 

AARP Game: ACBL has asked Patty to organize the same activity game at the Regional for members of the AARP


 

4. Old Business:

Phone Book:  Jan has begun working on the phone book revisions.

 

AtlantaJuniorBridge Funding Request: Discussion pursued regarding possible funding support to help AJB purchase bidding boxes for all the instructors for the summer camps and in-school and after school programs.  Jack thought that DBAA had purchased bidding boxes in the past and will talk with Olin on possible location of these boxes.  Jack further asked Carolyn to look into bulk purchase price of boxes from the company, Jannersten Forlag AB in Sweden.  After reports come in from Jack and Carolyn

 

5. New Business:

Patty Tucker Report: AtlantaJuniorBridge Activity

1.  Summer Camps: five are scheduled and 3 more will be scheduled soon: 3 in Norcross; 2 Alpharetta, 2 Dacula; 1 Dunwoody.

2.  AmericanBridge Association: Patty has contacted them and they are going to offer assistance with instructors.  A potential instructor has been identified.

3.  After School Programs: Patty has contacted or is in the process of contacting Conyers, Peachtree, churches, CobbCounty (in the works) Park and Recs (in the works), Big Brothers and Sisters, YMCA, Girl and Boy Scouts.

4.  In School Programs: Carolyn is working with two area schools in Alpha to set up bridge programs.  The program at Ocee this year will continue next year.

5. FACAA. Patty is currently teaching 24 youngsters at Fulton Atlanta County Action Association in an after school program.

 

Financial Review: Ed Foran has accepted Marty’s requested to review financial information.

 

By-Laws:  Marty and Susan reported that the draft review of the by-laws is scheduled for March 25,@ 6:15.  After the board meeting, the date and time was subsequently changed to Wednesday, April 26 @ 6:00.

 

Change of Rank Party:  Susan and Josie will have up to $150 for food for the game.
